Microsoft issues fix for update that drained Surface Pro 2 battery

Microsoft has issued an update that’s intended to fix a December update that had ended up draining the battery of some Surface Pro 2 units.

Microsoft pulled that December update after users reported problems.

This past weekend, Microsoft released an update that it said “addresses the unexpected wake and battery drain behavior experienced by a small number of Surface Pro 2 customers who installed the December Windows Update.

“This should have no impact on users already running the October Windows Update,” the company said in a statement. “We’re working hard to address the remaining Surface Pro 2 items from the December Windows Update.”

This latest update, first reported by ZDNet, appears to be rolling out in waves.
