Microsoft releases Surface 2 update

Microsoft has released an update to its Surface 2 tablets. The update, which installs automatically, includes improvements to battery life, the Type and Touch covers, and camera and audio system. Microsoft releases more pricing details on next-gen Surface – are the prices right?

When Microsoft announced the next generation of Surface products Monday, it had just starting price for the base models. Today, on the first day pre-ordering is possible, the  Microsoft Store website has the pricing details on the other configurations.

Microsoft launches next-generation Surface devices

Microsoft introduced its next generation of Surface devices at a launch event in New York City this morning. Here’s what the company showed.

Surface Pro 2 runs on Intel’s long-battery-life Haswell chip, providing about a 60 percent longer battery life than the original Surface Pro, according to Microsoft. It will run Windows 8.1, and is capable of running all Windows software and apps written for Windows. It does not come with Office pre-loaded. Surface Pro 2 will be available in 64GB and 128GB versions, with 4 GB of RAM, starting at $899. It will also be available in 256GB and 512GB configurations with 8GB of RAM.

Microsoft lets resellers sell Surface to business customers in 17 additional countries

Microsoft is allowing a few resellers in 17 additional countries to sell the Surface tablets to commercial, education and public-sector customers. Class action lawsuit filed against Microsoft over Surface RT
