The latest news about the NBA's possible return to Seattle.

Video — The scene at the St. Regis Hotel

The gang is all here — media, owners, Seattle and Sacramento leaders — as a critical day of meetings has begun in New York.

I shot some video below of the scene here at the St. Regis Hotel, where the meetings are being held. This is also where the NBA Board of Governors will meet April 18-19 to make the ultimate call on this battle. I am told to expect the big press conference with the final announcement to come on April 19.

Media assembled outside to watch some of the NBA owners and personnel arrive. Nothing of note was said, as might be expected. Clay Bennett was among the owners to walk through — he’s one of the members of the relocation/finance committee here hearing the presentations.

It is expected the owners are first being briefed by the NBA. Then will come the presentations by Seattle and Sacramento, reportedly in that order. Then likely more NBA discussion as they hash out what is expected to be a recommendation to the full NBA Board of Governors for their April 18-19 meeting here.

There is a press room set up here, as well as a press conference room and we are expected to hear later from members of the Seattle group, including maybe Chris Hansen, as well as some of the Sacramento contingent and NBA commissioner David Stern.

Not sure many of them will say much of real substance — as noted, the decision won’t come until the NBA BOG meetings. But we’ll be here to report what is said.
