Welcome to NORTHWEST TRAVELER, the new Seattle Times travel blog. We’re going places, and we’re happy to have your company.
The “we” is the Seattle Times travel team, Kristin Jackson and Brian Cantwell.
Between us we have written about almost every continent, hiked many a trail, sailed a few seas — and also wrestled with canceled flights, navigated the twisting maze of lodging choices, cut through red tape, and occasionally weathered blue Mondays, from Twisp to Tuscany.
We travel for a living, and because we love it — even when TSA lines are long or traffic on the pass is stickier than last night’s spaghetti. Once you get there, it’s all forgotten. (Usually.)
Our misadventures will be yours to learn from. And of course we’ll share secrets about our favorite places and new discoveries, in the Northwest, Hawaii, Mexico and all over.
Expect news you can use. Pondering about the planet. Fun surveys (pet-friendly hotels, anyone?) and tips on great deals, from RV rentals to Walla Walla wine weekends.
Travel involves a lot of two-way streets, and we hope this will be one, too. We welcome feedback, tips, ideas and requests. See the comments button? Let us hear from you soon.
