Big snowstorm coming in Northeast U.S.; passengers can switch flights

A 2005 blizzard left Boston streets snowed in. It’s feared the storm approaching New England this weekend could snarl travel. (AP file photo.)
A major winter storm is shaping up in the Northeast U.S., and up to two feet of snow could bury parts of the region on Friday night/Saturday morning, snarling life and travel. Called Nemo, it’s potentially bad enough that the National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch for Boston and surrounding areas.
American Airlines is letting passengers rebook for Feb. 8 and Feb. 9 flights to, from or through Boston, New York (Kennedy and LaGuardia airports) Newark and other Northeast cities. Phone 800-433-7300 for ticket changes. One ticket change, with no penalty, will be allowed, with travel to begin Feb. 7-12.
Other airlines also likely will relax their rebooking rules; check with your carrier.
