After the most untriumphant of cruises, thousands of Carnival Triumph passengers were headed home Friday and the sewage-permeated ship was being cleaned out after being adrift with little power (and hence toilet problems) for almost a week.
Seattle Times readers have been voting since Thursday afternoon in an online poll about what they’d want in compensation from Carnival if they had been passengers on the ship. The Carnival company, a cruise-industry giant, has offered each passenger a full refund for the cruise; a future cruise credit equal to what they paid for the Triumph voyage; a $500 credit; and reimbursement of some other expenses.
As of Friday early afternoon, more than a thousand readers have spoken out. Some of you would take the deal, others would be mad as hell and suing.
The numbers: About 34 percent said you’d fight for more compensation. Almost 33 percent said you’d take the deal. Twenty-three percent said you’d sue and never take a cruise again. About 10 percent would simply sue, sue, sue.
