A ski-flu day on Tuesday?

It would be a good day to play hooky and go skiing on Tuesday, but don’t let your boss see this.

Snow has been falling in the Cascades for days, with 20 inches new over the past 72 hours at the summit of Crystal Mountain, and it’s still snowing heavily Monday afternoon. Forecasters call for a possible foot of more accumulation before it’s over today. Don’t head up there just yet.

Even Snoqualmie Pass has been getting dumps. The summit of Alpental has collected 41 inches since Friday. Traction tires are required on eastbound Interstate 90, and there’s plenty of snow on the highway at Stevens Pass.

While it’s been blowing and snowing today, tomorrow forecasters expect a break in the weather:  mostly cloudy, with some sun breaks, a temperature hovering around 32, and light winds. It’s the only day this week with sun peeking out of the forecast window on the National Weather Service 7-day forecast.

Anybody feel a fever coming on?
