Drained by taxes? Tell us your favorite cheap getaway

Ack, it’s April 15, and the tax man biteth like a serpent — into your Weekend Getaway fund.

Looking for a cheap getaway? Try a weeknight stay, starting at $60, at MeMenamins Hotel Oregon in the Willamette Valley wine country. The rooftop bar is a popular hangout. (photo courtesy of Hotel Oregon)

So, maybe it’s the time to fall back on your favorite cheap getaway. A good budget motel at the beach? Off-season yurt rental at a state park?  Share your secret with a few friends on the Northwest Traveler blog, and maybe you’ll get some ideas in return.

I just got back from staying at a McMenamins hotel in Oregon wine country (Hotel Oregon, in McMinnville) for only $60 a night. It was a fun old historical hotel — the rooftop bar was a gem — and for that price I’m willing to cross the hall for a shower.
