Listed on the cover of this month’s (Sept. 2013) Outside magazine, in a call-out of America’s Best Towns for those who follow the mag’s “Live Bravely” motto: Seattle’s stepsister on the state’s far side, Spokane.
Yes, Washington’s second-largest city made the much ballyhooed Finalist list for Best Town Ever, in a vote of more than 21,000 of Outside’s readers.
Spokane got 1,668 votes in the poll, which prompted a glowing write-up praising the town’s recreational attributes: “Within minutes of downtown, you can paddle past moose on the Little Spokane River, climb 5.13 sport routes in Deep Creek Canyon, or hike the Spokane River Gorge.”
Oh, if you want THE perfect place to live? Outside readers gave this year’s nod to Park City, Utah. Only problem there is, well, no matter what you do, you’re still in Utah.
