Want to go to New York/New Jersey for the Super Bowl weekend but can’t swing the high prices for flights and hotels? Then try your luck in an Alaska Airlines sweepstakes that will take a plane full of lucky Seahawks fans from Seattle to New York in what’s called the “Russell Wilson 12th Fan Airlift.”
Each winner – and there will be 56 chosen randomly – will get two round-trip tickets on a special Alaska Airlines flight (aka Super Bowl party plane) to Newark, N.J.); two nights in a hotel for the Feb. 2 Super Bowl weekend; and a game-day party in Midtown Manhattan. (Nope, no Super Bowl game tickets).
The four-day sweepstakes – enter on Alaska Airlines’ Facebook page – is open to residents of Washington, Oregon and Alaska until Jan. 26 at 11.59 p.m. Winners will be notified Jan. 27.
Even if you’re not a winner in the “12th man airlift” you can at least get priority boarding on regular Alaska Airlines flights (and its sister airline Horizon) departing from Seattle if you turn up at the gate in a Russell Wilson jersey.
“People in #3 jerseys would board after First Class and MVP Golds and at the same time as MVPs,” said Alaska spokeswoman Bobbie Egan.
That promotion continues through Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 2).
