Dream of being an aristocrat in flight

I came across a little real-life slice of Downton Abbey recently  when I booked a British Airways flight online.

You know how when filling in your name on an airline website it gives the option of designating yourself Mr., Mrs. Miss, Ms, Dr?

Well, the British Airways ticketing site goes much, much farther. Among the honorifics I could have selected for myself were Dame, Lady, Lord, The Rt. Hon. (that’s Right Honourable to you), Baroness, Baron, Viscount, Viscountess. Ah, visions of aristocracy in the air. Although there was no category of queen or king (I guess the uber-royalty doesn’t fly commercial).

I did toy with designating myself  Viscountess Jackson. Or Baroness Jackson had a nice ring to it. In the end, I chickened out and chose plain old Ms. But next time I book on BA, I may have to be an aristocrat.  At least for a flight.
