It’s (almost) summer in Seattle and scads of tourists soon will be roaming around town. What sights should they see?
You (as in Seattle Times readers) voted on top Seattle sights in response to a recent Times article on five favorite, and five alternative attractions, as recommended by writer Brian Thomas Gallagher.
He groaned at the fish-tossing and crowds at Pike Place Market; was not amused by Ride the Ducks; and protested at the Space Needle’s high price. Instead, head to the Ballard Farmers Market, take an Argosy boat tour, and go for the Columbia Center Sky View Observatory, recommended Gallagher.
Some of you agreed, lots of you disagreed, with those and Gallagher’s other alternative favorites, including Seattle Times photographer Bettina Hansen who shot the photos for the story and blogged in defense of the Ducks. And you’re posting some Instagram photos of your own favorite Seattle sights.
Here are readers’ choices for the best Seattle sights out of the 10 mentioned in the story:
Pike Place Market, 256 votes
Space Needle, 147 votes
Olympic Sculpture Park, 124 votes
Argosy Cruises, 99 votes
Seattle Underground Tour, 95 votes
Seattle Architecture Foundation tours, 87 votes
Sky View Observatory, Columbia Center, 82 votes
Ballard Farmers Market, 70 votes
Ride the Ducks, 64 votes
Ye Olde Curiosity Shop, 46 votes
