State parks birthday bash slated Aug. 3 at Deception Pass

Washington State Parks continue to celebrate the park system’s 100th birthday, and the next big “signature” event to mark on your calendar is an Aug. 3 bash at Deception Pass State Park.

The boat launch at Lake Sammamish State Park  ­— the only public launching spot on the popular urban lake near Issaquah ­­— has been substantially upgraded. State and local officials — and park users — will celebrate with a ribbon-cutting on July 18 at 9 a.m.
