Obama’s priorities wrong
In light of Sen. John McCain’s recent announcement to suspend his campaign and postpone the debates in order to tackle the financial crisis before us, Sen. Barack Obama has expressed his desire for the first debate to go forward as planned [“Candidates locked in debate over debate,” page one, Sept. 25].
I find it curious that Obama has spent the better part of the year avoiding any additional debates with either of his opponents, first Sen. Hillary Clinton and then Sen. John McCain, yet now — now of all times — Obama feels compelled to carry on with the debate as originally scheduled.
Here we sit, on the brink of a crisis, the magnitude of which we have not seen since the Great Depression, and Obama’s priority is to maintain the debate schedule.
In this, as in so many other ways, he proves himself devoid of leadership qualities, unable to establish priorities and lacking sound judgment.
Obama is all wrong for this country. And he has just proved it again.
