Assessor Scott Noble’s drinking and driving

Deserving punishment, not resignation

Assessor Scott Noble should face appropriate charges for his drinking and driving, and the appropriate penalty.

Where is it written that he has to lose his job?

By all means, take his driver’s license away. But, what does his method of earning his livelihood have to do with his crime?

Your editorial [“Assessor must resign,” Feb. 27] missed the mark.

Now, as for drunk-driving judges, those who sit in judgment over others who then transgress themselves, is another thing entirely.

— Virginia Sybert, Seattle

Reckless behavior calls for zero tolerance

I am outraged by irresponsible behavior on of yet another public official and the prospect he will not be held fully accountable for his behavior.

I demand he be removed from his office immediately; extend full reparations to those who were injured by his actions, serve the jail time to the full extent of the law, be required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and give up his driver’s license.

There is no excuse for his reckless behavior; we should show zero tolerance for it!

— Carol Meyer, Seattle
