Poland missile shield

A dangerous undertaking

Why on Earth does the U.S. believe it necessary to put up a missile shield in Poland? [“Obama plans summit on reducing nuclear arms, says North Korea launch threatens global security,” seattletimes.com, Politics & Government, April 5]

This most dangerous undertaking, which is not appreciated by many nations, could even lead the world into a nuclear war. The Europeans most certainly are not interested. They realize what is at stake.

After lengthy negotiations, Poland agreed to the shield in exchange for U.S. pledges to help upgrade the Polish military.

What a good deal for the Poles! Who helped this country to upgrade our military in Iraq? Who is helping us now? Many of our brave soldiers had to die before our military decided on a badly needed upgrade.

Let us hope and pray President Obama will see the light.
