King County spending

Budget bloated? Not with mandatory days off

I was taken aback to read Susan Hutchison’s claim of a bloated county budget [“Bloated county government needs cuts, Hutchison says,” NWFriday, June 12]. On Friday, June 19 all nonessential county employees will be taking one of their 10 days off without pay this year — a response to a tight, not-bloated budget.

As the wife of one of those employees, I found Hutchinson’s claim offensive. I wonder what specifically she thinks the county and its residents can do without.
