Mass. middle-schoolers denied lunch
School-lunch company should no longer work with kids
What a sad commentary on our priorities in this country [“Parents outraged schoolkids were denied lunch,” front page, April 5]. We send untold sums of money to other countries, and yet we can deny our own children food?
When we read the article in The Seattle Times, we were astounded such a thing could happen in a public school. To say the Whitsons Culinary Group should have its contract terminated is probably a gross understatement. The company should be permanently banned from any contracts involving children; their judgment renders them incapable of conducting such business. One can only wonder how the school district deals with families who lack financial resources.
