Judge drops lawsuit to block new Sodo arena

Arena deal an opportunity for economic growth

Port Commissioner Bill Bryant, left, speaks to The Seattle Times Editorial Board about the proposed Sodo arena at The Seattle Times Wednesday, April 10, 2013.

I am a concerned citizen displeased with the editorial opinions that this newspaper produced with regard to the new arena being considered in the Sodo neighborhood of Seattle [“Judge dismisses lawsuit against proposed Sodo arena, online, April 12].I am proposing that this newspaper, itself a credible source of information and a powerful social institution, ought to adjust its sails and back the efforts of Christopher Hansen and his associates .

Hansen has sought out a good-faith partnership with our local government, one that I perceive as not only logical, but fair.

Shouldn’t every government pursue an opportunity to employ its citizens, grow its economy and enrich its society? The answer to this question is yes, because government is a trust and owes a duty of care to its people.

This arena deal is an enormous opportunity for further development in the Sodo area and has massive potential to increase economic growth in the years to come. I urge this paper to consider these points and engage in an intellectual dialogue.

Conner Morgan,  Bellingham
