WEA spending exceeds that of other lobby groups
Do the math and the numbers aren’t so surprising
A bit of data analysis with regard to the amount of money spent by the Washington Education Association (WEA) on lobbying in Olympia the first three months of this year reveals the following: $380,941 spent divided by 82,000 members equals $4.65 spent on lobbying per member. That seems like a fair use of my money as a WEA member [“State teachers union flexing sizable political muscle again,” NWSunday, May 5].
It makes me wonder what the lobbying dollars to membership ratio is for the other organizations mentioned in Brian Rosenthal’s article.
