Magnuson Park contamination uncovered

Public has right to know

It is disturbing to know that officials hid environmental contamination from the public [“Public not told some parts of Magnuson Park tainted,” NWThursday, May 30]. While it was fenced off, there are those who have been known to ignore said fences. There is also concern that officials have known about this for the past four years without notifying the public. While overreaction is typical of the public, it also has the right to know about dangers in places where people take their loved ones.

Honesty is always the best policy, and clearly our officials need to have that policy. I would like to applaud State Rep. Gerry Pollet for his leadership on this issue for the local community.
