Legislators get off easy
The article [“Part-time school, college staff may lose state health benefits,” NWThursday, June 13] fails to mention one key fact: Legislators have exempted themselves from the bill. They would argue that their jobs are not part time.
As an adjunct faculty member who frequently teaches 15 credits or more per quarter (a full-time load by all but federal definition), I too take offense at being classified as part time.
SB 5905 is a broken bill, and until legislators are willing to put themselves into the yet-untested insurance exchanges, it will remain unworthy of public support.
