Seattle Pride Parade

Many Christians marched in the parade

Thank you for coverage of the Seattle Pride Parade and the description of what this event means for so many people. [“Momentous wins for gays pack extra pride into Seattle’s parade,” page one, Jule 1.]

However, at the end of the article, you identify a man by the name of Larry, who held a Bible and declared that “Only Jesus Saves.”

What a shame that you did not make any reference to all of the Christian congregations and organizations that participated in this parade. For example, I was a part of the Lutheran contingency that included 23 congregations and organizations and stretched for half a block.

Once again, the news is slanted toward a more fundamentalist representation of Christianity, rather than giving progressive Christians their rightful visibility as a viable expression of this faith and practice.

The Rev. Ron Moe-Lobeda, Seattle
