Undocumented immigrants pay a lot of taxes

In another partial-truth argument that favors the status of undocumented immigrants who pay a large share of the tax revenue, I would note that there is no mention of corresponding costs associated with supporting this group. [“Undocumented immigrants a big source of taxes,” News, July 12.]

I would hope that a balanced review would include services such as subsidized housing and health or social services such as food stamps, public education, a police and firefighting force, and all the costs that support these additional public services.

It’s frustrating and sad that the public and media discourse on this issue and many others are often based on one-sided arguments that willfully ignore the other side.
