Congressmembers get a taste of Obamacare

Outrage at Sen. Murray, others

Sen. Patty Murray, how dare you? [“Obamacare foes to be among first to sign up,” page one, Aug. 11.]

You voted for a health-care law you did not read. The law stipulated that Congress members would be required to adhere to the law, as would every other America.

However, when you discovered that the law would impact you adversely, you and your colleagues arranged what amounts to a waiver for yourselves and your staff. You now enjoy a 75 percent subsidy on your premiums.

In The Seattle Times, you stated you looked forward to joining the insurance marketplace in Washington. Well, senator, we too would look forward to joining if 75 percent of our premiums were subsidized!

Apparently, you see two distinct classes in America — the elite in Congress, who pass laws for everyone else to follow, and the commoners, whose taxes pay the salaries and subsidies for the elite.
