VA Puget Sound Health Care System gets poor review

Not this veteran’s experience

I was shocked and dismayed to read the recent article on the Puget Sound Veteran Affairs health system. [“Puget Sound VA health system gets poor reviews for quality,” page one, Sept. 9.]

That conflicts with every experience I’ve had at the VA hospital on Beacon Hill.

I’ve had a tumor taken off my hip and walked out of the hospital the same day with no pain. I’ve had my eyes checked for glaucoma and cataracts with equipment so modern and sophisticated, I didn’t even know it existed.

The doctors, nurses and medical help I have seen treat each veteran/patient with patience and courtesy. All the personnel I have dealt with are helpful and thoughtful. Their aim is to “serve those who have served our country.” You can feel it in the atmosphere when you walk through the hospital door.

If there’s a better VA hospital or a better health-care system, I’d like to know where it is.

Tim Delaney, Bellevue
