Creating sustainable food production will help impoverished countries
The bottom billion people in the world live in dire poverty. Basic needs are rarely sufficiently met; starvation and malnutrition are a fact of life. Millions of kids die every year from lack of food. With the amount of technology and information we have, production of food is at an all-time high, and yet, we are still losing lives. This truly is the crisis of our time.
I am writing to support Global Food Security Act of 2013 (H.R. 2822).
By supporting this bill you will help lay the ground work for sustainable-food production. This bill will add structure and stability by increasing nutrition, agriculture and the strength of local economies in impoverished countries.
When these people have some security for their basic needs they can go earn a wage and ultimately become consumers. In this way this bill is an investment in a foreign market that can have a profound effect on human lives.
It is our civic duty to look toward the future and strive for a better world; this bill is a good place to start.
