The solution lies in teamwork
The Seattle Times and editorials need to put a little balance in the government fiasco. It is not all the because of the GOP — it takes two to tangle.
It is time for the children in Congress to grow up. The Democrats rammed Obamacare down our throats (the largest deficit we ever had), and have caused the ballooning of the government. Now the Democrats don’t have total control of Congress — the last election took care of that.
Since Obamacare is the hang-up, fund it for one year and then require recertification or it gets defunded Jan. 1, 2015. If the majority of voters change their minds and decide they like it, then recertify it. If not, then put together a bipartisan health-care reform that works for the American tax-paying public.
Do it to at least get the government going again. Now it is time for the Senate to quit stonewalling and pass the bills from the House of Representatives to make sure our military members, National Guard and reserve officers are paid. That the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is open to assist America’s heroes, the Federal Emergency Management Agency can do its job, low-income women and children can receive nutrition assistance, and our National Parks remain open for business.
It is time the Democrats and the president understood that working together is what Americans want instead of blaming and trying to conquer by dividing the country. Has anyone ever heard of taking responsibility and working as a team?
Put aside the party line and do what is right for Americans, or the next election will result in more changes.
