U.S. must remember it’s part of a global community
Democracy is not being honored
As Americans, we enjoy freedoms that others envy and are even now dying for. My suggestion for all who are invested in the well-being of this nation to commit to honest evaluation of our current condition in order to come up with solutions that will work. We are part of a global community and what we do as such a large nation affects other nations profoundly.
Economically, partners need to know we are stable and responsible about our debts. China and the European Union are now talking about using their own currencies for trade and no longer the US dollar.
Socially, the current administration has shut the door on dissidents seeking visas or asylum based on human rights abuse. Under the new ACA, nonprofits and charity-based health care will not be able to operate as before. A substantial amount of free-clinics and subsidized health care will be gone.
Politically, willful deconstruction of the process is under way. Instead of bipartisan negotiations and a sharing of powers on behalf of the people, there is an increasing authoritarianism that is in defiance of the democratic process.
I think any person, no matter what party, needs to take seriously our condition. In a free society there is no excuse for letting someone do your thinking for you.
