Sea Change shows pressing problem of ocean acidification

Thank you for your in-depth journalism

Congratulations on the Times’ fantastic “Sea Change” series revealing the depths of the problem of ocean acidification, and thank you for your recent follow-up article [“Can sea life adapt to souring oceans?” page one, Nov. 3].

Sea Change is a top-flight example of the brand of in-depth journalism that is fast disappearing in the current media landscape. The Times’ editors showed tremendous vision by investing in the kind of reporting that will distinguish your newspaper in this new media environment.

Hearty congratulations to reporter Craig Welch, photographer Steve Ringman and the Times team that produced stellar reports for Times readers, both in print and online. You tackled one of the most difficult challenge humanity faces, one that is especially pressing for the Pacific Northwest, and we as readers are in your debt.

— Robert McClure, Seattle
