On Jan. 11, The Times published an article [“Israel says it will build new homes in West Bank,” Nation & World] on the position of Israel’s Labor Party leader Isaac Herzog: that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu understands the need for a peace deal with the Palestinian Arabs, but does not have the guts to make the necessary sacrifices.
I would like to suggest that the real problem here is that Herzog and his left-wing constituents do not have the brains to see the danger in the so-called peace deal being proposed by Secretary of State John Kerry.
Since talks with the Palestinian Arabs began more than twenty years ago, the Israelis have been waiting to hear from them three simple words: “end of conflict.” Israelis have a right to be assured that after giving up territory, the conflict will then come to an end.
Not only has this never been offered by the other side, but anyone tuning in to Palestinian Media Watch or any other source of Arab sentiment knows they are promising their children that the agreements being pushed on Israel will only be a stage in the inevitable total destruction of the world’s only Jewish state.
