All the news that we see on the Russian takeover in Ukraine shows us to be totally stupid, or total hypocrites [“U.S. faces tough choices on Putin, Ukraine,” Page One, March 5.
Our leaders say that it is an international crime for Russia not to respect the borders and sovereignty of Ukraine. Do they think that everybody has forgotten what the U.S. has done in Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama and Grenada? Has Secretary of State John Kerry forgotten his own experience in Vietnam, which had the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution totally on trumped up charges of aggression against the northern half of the country in their civil war?
Doesn’t Russia have as much right to see that ethnic Russians living in Ukraine are protected from a lawless takeover of the Ukrainian government, as the U.S. has had in all of its excursions to force its will around the world over the last 50 years?
