Charity: What you can do to help give back

What a wonderful feeling to read a story by Jerry Large about someone sharing good fortune [“Well-paid young Seattle techie prefers giving to riches,” Local News, March 12].

Thanks to Large for telling the story of Jessan Hutchison-Quillan, setting a great example with his giving to make our world a better place.

It is possible for any of us to share our blessings. One way is sharing our time volunteering. This makes the world a better place as well. Volunteering our time with nonprofit groups like RESULTS (results.org) helps to make the world free of hunger and poverty.

Right now you could do your part to help 57 million children become students for the first time. Take a minute to call your elected officials and ask them to pass the Education for All Act. Many opportunities to make a difference are at our fingertips. Start with a smile.
