Punishment hardly adequate
Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair was convicted by a jury of his peers, presumably other general officers, of adultery, misuse of his government credit card, soliciting sexually explicit pictures of female officers, possessing pornography in a combat zone, and mistreating his mistress, who was a subordinate officer. [“General won’t go to jail in sexual-misconduct case,” News, March 21.] His punishment was a note put in his file and a fine of about six week’s pay.
If this had happened to an enlisted sergeant, he would be facing the loss of all pay and privileges, prison time and a dishonorable discharge at the end. I sure wish I was a member of the General’s Club.
