King County Prop. 1: Buses critical for underserved communities

Although it’s definitely regressive, it’s critical we vote yes on Proposition 1 [“King County Metro Transit still has work to do; vote no on Prop. 1,” Opinion, April 7].

I implore you to support your community — the disabled, handicapped, elderly, working class, low-income folks, homeless and others who have no choice but to rely on the bus.

Please do not ignore your ballot just because you never have to take the bus. If you ever do need to take the bus, don’t you want it to be available? It’s actually part of our infrastructure, part of our “commons.”

If this proposition fails, the impact on our environment would be horrendous, as pollution would increase with all the added cars, which also creates more congestion.

Let’s vote for this critical lifeline and then continue working toward more progressive taxation.
