Guns in church: Scripture doesn’t call for ‘might’ nor ‘power’

Good God! If we Christians believe we need to carry guns to our places of worship [“Georgia’s sweeping new law allows guns into churches, bars,” Nation/World, April 24], perhaps we should check our scriptures and be reminded that God has declared that we are saved “Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit.” (Zechariah 4:6).

If we need a reminder of just how powerful faith in that Spirit can be, we can read the story of Daniel in the lions’ den in the sixth chapter, Book of Daniel.

And, if we believe we need to resort to taking other lives in order to preserve ours, could it be that we are too much of this Earth, rather than just in it? I wonder.
