Support lawsuit against DOJ so Seattle police can do their jobs

The U.S. Department of Justice and other civil-rights groups have tied the hands of the Seattle Police Department so it can no longer be effective in dealing with the bad guys ["Seattle cops sue over DOJ reforms," Local News, May 28].

While no one condones racial profiling or the unreasonable use of force in apprehending the suspects, police officers need to be able to effectively track down violators without fear of being prosecuted for doing their job. If we expect to have an effective police presence on the streets of our city we need to support them in their current lawsuit.
