Our country need not go back to military engagement with Iraq. But that does not mean that we do nothing [“Iraq villagers flee militant advance in north,” Nation & World, June 26].
We need to do no harm. Bombs and drones will not help the people of Iraq.
Second, we need to pressure our legislators and all other countries to cease providing funds for war and weapons.
Third, we should work with the United Nations for immediate international negotiations to find a political solution to these disasters.
Finally, we should work with the United Nations for massive humanitarian aid to those suffering from this crisis.
We should be leaders for peace.
