This is the second article that I’ve read about the Sept. 11 memorial statue, and I have been moved both times [“Sept. 11 memorial statue coming to Cashmere,” The Today File, July 3].
I think the sculpture is a beautiful and meaningful tribute that should have received a welcome in Olympia, Kirkland, Issaquah or any other community with a gathering place.
Criticism that it is a sad reminder has me scratching my head wondering how it could be wrong to honor our heroes and to provoke conversation around something so significant to our country’s past and future.
Thank you Cashmere for stepping up.
