Israel-Palestinian conflict: While Hamas spins story, Palestinians die

Maybe letter writer Michelle Ryder would feel better if the Israelis stayed outside so they might be killed by missiles instead of going into bomb shelters [“Israel has a massive, unfair advantage,” Northwest Voices, July 18]. Or shut down the Iron Dome till Israeli deaths equaled Palestinian deaths. Or build bomb shelters in Gaza for the civilians since Hamas hasn’t done so (but the civilians would have to share them with Hamas’ bombs and ammo).

Israel has not treated the Palestinians evenly or justly in a lot of ways, but clearly Hamas is the aggressor here and cares nothing about civilian deaths. Israel is struggling to avoid injuring the populace while Hamas takes advantage of the death toll to try to manipulate world opinion. Its main interest is to exterminate Israel. The Palestinian people are the ones who suffer and die.
