Middle East conflict: Stop Israel’s support

How can the U.S. government continue to support Israel when it has killed more than more than 150 children and injured thousands? [“Israel pushes deeper in Gaza,” Nation & World, Aug. 1] The population of Gaza is 1.8 million people, 50 percent under 18 years old. The people of Gaza are locked in by checkpoints controlled by Israel. It shouldn’t be a surprise Gaza has reached the boiling point.

Having been to Israel in February 2014, I saw the disparity of the living conditions and checkpoints the Palestinians have to live with every day. The U.S. government needs to take a stand against Israel and stop sending money and access to weapons.

It is time for our politicians to do what is moral and right instead of what will win them votes.
