Bitcoins: Expect less privacy with digital currency

Given our inevitable evolution to a more centralized society, it is reasonable to imagine a future using only digital currency [“Bitcoin ATMs are copping up,” Business/Technology, Sept. 6].

It is pure fantasy, however, to believe there will be any anonymity associated with bitcoin or any type of digital currency. As we see in the news daily, anything in our digital, computerized world is exposable and traceable.

We all should appreciate and enjoy the true anonymity we have today with our physical currency. A future cashless society, while more efficient, will have less privacy and freedom.
