Mars Hill Church: Here’s why the church attracted a following

The rise of Mark Driscoll is a reaction to the desperate need of the many lost in our culture [“The rise and fall of Mars Hill Church,” Local News, Sept. 13]. He was a lifeline who filled a niche, void of truth, but cool enough so the folks didn’t care. Jesus might have been a tough guy, but he was also very humble.

Most church-shoppers aren’t looking for humility, but entertainment. Sooner or later — lacking accountability — the show will end. This is a predictable byproduct of the lost seeking something to grasp. Yet, they don’t realize nothing is there until it is too late.
