Metro Transit: Dow Constantine is showing leadership

Commuters head toward a No. 5 bus on its way to Shoreline during rush hour traffic in Seattle. (Lindsey Wasson / The Seattle Times)

The in-depth information that King County Executive Dow Constantine provides about funding for Metro Transit is a welcome new resource for me — and surely others — committed to sustainability for Metro [“Metro Transit’s plan explained,” Opinion, Oct. 8]. Cutting through some of the confusion by highlighting volatile funding and resulting risks that must be taken into account is a key contribution.

Also, being reminded that Constantine can draw on a five-year history of collaborative effort with the County Council as planning continues is reassuring.

Our need for more leadership of this kind drives my work for various candidates for state Senate with similar qualities who are committed to achieving a state transportation package and other important goals.
