I miss voting — never more than on Election Day [“Republicans making powerful bid for Senate control,” Nation & World, Nov. 4].
Certainly, I voted and mailed in my ballot in a timely manner. But, I miss going to the actual polls, seeing my neighbors working there, and in line.
I was proud to get my sticker that noted I voted today. I was proud to have conversations in the workplace about voting lines or no lines, how fast it went and what the election meant.
I still vote at home on a Tuesday, only earlier, and I try to make something of a ceremony of freedom and democracy about it. It’s not the same.
I guess mail-in ballots are more efficient and cost less. But I still miss the act of voting at a place and in a voting booth.
