Outside firm should have done the job
A state design team’s engineering error will cost taxpayers at least $81.1 million. [“Big bill and big delay to fix new 520 pontoons,” page one, July 31.]
Why was the design of the new floating bridge left up to a state design team, which clearly wasn’t up to the task, instead of hiring an outside engineering firm, which could at least be held accountable to pick up the tab for costly errors in design?
Let’s hope the same design team didn’t work on the new downtown tunnel.
