Mike Riley, the Oregon State football coach, was asked on Tuesday’s Pac-12 teleconference call whether he’d have interest in the USC job.
“Uh, no,” he said. “I think I’ve made it clear in the past . . . we’re scratching and clawing to continue to grow (at Oregon State). That’s our mission in life right now. That’s the furthest thing from my mind.”
Riley was spoken to by USC athletic director Mike Garrett when he was in the NFL back when Garrett eventually hired Pete Carroll.
My take? I believe Riley, who turned 60 last summer. I also think USC will probably be in the market for somebody younger, but I think Riley has come to peace with where he is, and he’s in Corvallis for good. And good for him.
