Northwest 11: Amid the jostling, Zags reclaim top spot

With a whole lot of struggling by most of the Pac-12 teams in the Northwest, Gonzaga takes over the top spot in our Northwest 11 rankings this week. The rankings are mostly on the basis of season-long performance, but there’s  a factor of recent play as well (Oregon, are you listening?).

  1. Gonzaga (16-3) . . . Given the injuries, 6-1 WCC start not a bad thing
  2. Boise State (13-5) . . . Off home sweep, goes to New Mexico Tuesday night
  3. Oregon State (10-7) . . . Moreland playing like an NBA prospect, which he is
  4. Oregon (13-4) . . . Once 10th-ranked, now the NCAA tournament no lock
  5. Washington  (11-8) . . . Cal, Stanford make it nine foes to shoot 50 percent
  6. Portland (11-8) . . . Despite Kevin Bailey’s 27, stumbled at Pepperdine
  7. Washington State (8-10) . . . Minus Lacy and Johnson, shooting .275 on 3s
  8. Idaho (8-12) . . . 1,414 saw Vandals beat Cal State-Bakersfield
  9. Eastern Washington (7-10) . . . Lost eight of last 10
  10. Seattle U. (9-9) . . . Held Utah Valley to 29 percent, still lost
  11. Portland State (7-8) . . . Ended 20-game road losing streak at Sac State
