Northwest 11: Zags hold serve, Huskies move up

No wholesale movement in our weekly Northwest 11 as conference races near the midway point. For at least three teams (Washington, Oregon, Boise State), the rest of the season is rife with NCAA-tournament implications (or NIT, or CBI, for the naysayers).

1. Gonzaga (18-3) . . . BYU win big, but 6 of last 9 on road in screwy WCC schedule

2. Boise State (14-6) . . . Feb. 5-12 stretch of San Diego State-Utah State-New Mexico will be huge

3. Washington (13-8) . . . Only a win over WSU from a productive first half

4. Oregon (14-5) . . . With RPI sagging at 40, need to break through versus UCLA Thursday night

5. Oregon State (11-8) . . . Better win now: Most of key parts done after this season

6. Portland (12-9) . . . Couldn’t back crazy triple-OT win over BYU with win over San Diego

7. Washington State (8-12) . . . Two — count ’em, two — two-point baskets against Oregon

8. Eastern Washington (8-10) . . . G Tyler Harvey hit Sky record 20 of 20 FTs vs. Southern Utah

9. Idaho (8-13) . . . Troubles have a lot to do with .452 FG defense allowed

10. Seattle (9-10) . . . Redhawks losers of seven of last eight

11. Portland State (8-8) . . . Can square Big Sky mark at 4-4 with win against EWU tonight
