In the media balloting (that’s the way it’s done, for the second straight year) for Pac-12 players of the week, Oregon’s Marcus Mariota (offense) and USC’s Leonard Williams (defense) and Andre Heidari (special teams) took the latest honors.
Mariota was marvelous (318 yards passing, three touchdowns) leading Oregon’s comeback to swamp Michigan State, Williams had 11 tackles, including a sack playing on a bad ankle against Stanford, and Heidari had the game-winning 53-yard field goal.
I voted it exactly this way. There were a bunch of standout individual performances Saturday, including D.J. Foster’s 216 yards rushing for Arizona State at New Mexico, but my lean is always to the guys who perform best on the biggest stage.
